Layer upon layer of thick, textured encaustic paint. Oil stick and charcoal enhance the nest. Gold metal float frame. This background texture uses a technique called accretion which is similar to dry brushing with acrylic paint. The rope like strands making the nest are many layers of brushed on wax. No rope or string at all.
